About Garage Door Houston
Garage Door Houston is a family-owned garage door company working across Houston and the surrounding metro since 2020. We repair, replace and install residential and commercial doors, and we run those two sides as genuinely separate workstreams because the scheduling, hardware and paperwork are not the same.
This page is the short version of who you are hiring. If you want the verifiable specifics — insurance, warranty, certifications, ratings — they are all on the credentials page.
Why this company exists
Most people only think about their garage door when it stops working, and at that moment they are making a decision under pressure with very little information. The door will not close, the car is trapped, the house is open, and the first company that answers the phone gets the job.
That is a bad way to buy anything, and it is the situation this business was built around. The whole site is written to give you the information you would want before that moment arrives: what a repair should cost, what a technician should check, why two quotes for the same door can differ by hundreds of dollars, and how to tell whether a diagnosis is real or a sales script.
That is also why the prices are published. It is unusual in this trade, and it costs us the ability to quote high to people who have not done their homework. It is worth it, because the alternative is a business that depends on your not knowing.
How we work
We diagnose before we quote. A door is tested by hand before the opener is touched, because a working opener hides a door that is out of balance. Most of the expensive surprises in this trade come from skipping that step.
We give you the price in writing before work starts. Not a range that firms up later, and not a phone number that changes at the door. If the diagnosis changes once the door is apart, we stop and re-quote rather than adding to the invoice.
We tell you when the cheaper answer is the right one. A stripped plastic gear is a repair, not a new opener. A door with a failed spring does not need replacing. When a repair stops making economic sense against a replacement, you get both numbers and the decision.
We decline work we cannot do well. If a door is out of our range, if a job needs a licensed engineer, if you are outside where our vans actually run — you will hear that rather than a booking.
What we are not
We are not the cheapest quote you will get, and we are not trying to be. The cheapest quote in this trade is usually a spring without a stated cycle rating, or a price that grows once the door is apart. We would rather lose the job on price than win it by being vague.
We are also not a thirty-year-old Houston institution, and we do not pretend to be. We have been trading since 2020. What we have instead is a small enough operation that a badly done job is not absorbed by volume, and enough experience on Houston doors to know what fails here specifically — heat that cooks opener electronics, humidity that corrodes spring coils, and a storm season that tests every seal and bottom bar on the block.
What we will do for you that costs us
A short list, because these are the commitments that actually mean something:
- Answer the phone at 2am for a door that will not close and a house that is not secure — at the same rate as 2pm.
- Show you the failed part rather than describing it after the fact.
- Put the cycle rating of any spring in writing, because it is the number that decides how long it lasts.
- Send an insurance certificate on request before we start.
- Say "that can wait" when it can.
Where we are
10949 S Sam Houston Pkwy W, Suite B, Houston TX 77031 — our office and base. You are welcome to come by, and it is the right place to look at door options in person. It is not a retail counter: doors are measured and quoted at your property, because a door cannot be assessed properly off the wall.
If you want to know what happens when a technician arrives, what to expect on a service call sets it out step by step. And our service standards is the version we hold ourselves to.
Common questions
How long have you been in business?
Since 2020, so around six years. We state it plainly because a lot of companies in this trade imply decades they do not have. Being newer means we are still building a reputation, which is a good reason to treat every job as one we will be judged on.
Are you a franchise or a local company?
Local and family owned. We are not a franchise, and we do not subcontract the work out to whoever is available. The people who quote your job are the people accountable for it.
What areas do you cover?
Houston and the surrounding metro. We are based at 10949 S Sam Houston Pkwy W, Suite B, and we would rather tell you honestly that you are outside our range than take a booking we cannot reach on time. If you are unsure, call and ask — that question costs you nothing.
Do you work on both homes and businesses?
Yes, and they run as separate workstreams. A self-storage drive-up door and a two-car garage door use related hardware but they are specified, scheduled and documented differently, and commercial work is usually scheduled around your operating hours.
Why do you publish your prices when other companies do not?
Because the alternative is wasting your time. Most people calling a garage door company have one question — what will this cost — and a company that will not answer it is asking you to book a visit to find out. We publish planning ranges, and we are clear that they are ranges rather than quotes.
Will you tell me if I do not need the work?
Yes, and it happens often enough to be worth saying. A door that needs a spring does not need a new door. If the honest answer is that you can wait, or that the cheaper repair will do, that is what you will hear.
