This policy covers garagedoorhou.com and the enquiry form on it, and it describes what the site actually does rather than what a template says it might do. The short version: we collect what you type into the form, we use it to answer you and to do the work, and you can ask us to remove it.

The company responsible for your details is Garage Door Houston, the business that runs this site. If you want to ask about anything on this page, or have your details removed, email support@garagedoorhou.com or call (281) 201-0151.

What the enquiry form collects

Name and phone number are required, because we cannot quote or call you back without them. Everything else is optional, and the form works if you leave it blank.

What you enterWhy it is asked for
NameSo we know who we are speaking to
Phone numberSo a person can call you back about the job
Email addressOnly used to send a written quote or confirmation if you want one
Postal codeTo route the job to the right side of the metro and give a realistic arrival window
Property typeResidential or commercial, so the right team takes the enquiry
ServiceWhat the job is, so we can arrive with the right parts
UrgencyWhether the door is stuck open, or the work can be scheduled
Door countOnly shown for commercial enquiries, so a multi-door site is quoted properly
MessageThe description of the problem in your own words

Two things are recorded alongside your message without you typing them. The page you sent the form from and its address, so we know which question brought you here. And how long the form was on screen, which is used only to filter automated submissions.

There is also a hidden field that a person cannot see and does not fill in. If a bot fills it, the submission is discarded.

Where your details go

Your enquiry is written to a database on our own server, in a file that sits outside the publicly accessible part of the site. It is emailed to our dispatch inbox through a transactional email provider so that somebody can call you back the same day. Access to the enquiry database is limited to staff who follow up on enquiries, behind a password-protected admin area.

We do not sell your details, we do not rent them, and we do not pass them to other contractors to quote against each other. Your enquiry is used to answer you, to quote the work, to carry out the work if you approve it, and to honour any warranty afterwards.

Spam prevention, and what we store about your connection

The form is a target for automated submissions, so the site records two things about the connection that sent it — in a deliberately limited form.

Your IP address is never stored. It is combined with this site's domain name and run through a one-way SHA-256 hash, and the first 32 characters of that hash are stored. The result cannot practically be turned back into your address, and it is used for one purpose: counting how many submissions have come from the same connection in the last hour, so a flood can be blocked. A submission over that limit is refused and you are asked to call instead.

Your browser's user agent string — the short line of text every browser sends to identify itself — is stored in truncated form, again only so that repeated automated abuse can be recognised and blocked.

Two further checks run before anything is saved: the hidden field described above, and a minimum completion time, because a form filled in faster than a person can read it is not a person.

Where your enquiry came from

If you reached this site through a campaign link, the campaign parameters in that link (the UTM values for source, medium, campaign, term and content) are stored with the enquiry, along with the Google click identifier if you arrived from a Google Ads click. The page that referred you is recorded only when it is another website — referrals from our own pages are discarded.

This is measurement, not profiling. It tells us which pages and which campaigns produce enquiries, and it stays attached to the enquiry record rather than being used to build a profile of you.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4, which is configured and running. It records pages visited, how you arrived, and general usage patterns, in aggregate. When an enquiry is submitted, the confirmation page sends a lead event to Analytics that includes the enquiry's reference number, so enquiries can be counted without sending your name, phone number, email address or message.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes the data as an independent provider. Google's handling of it is described in Google's privacy policy.

There are no advertising or remarketing pixels on this site. No Meta pixel, no advertising network tags, and no third-party tracking scripts beyond Google Analytics. We do not build advertising audiences from visitors, and we do not run remarketing campaigns against people who have used the form.

Cookies

Two kinds are set. One is a session cookie that keeps the form working — if a submission is rejected because a field is missing, it is what holds the error message until the page reloads. The other is set by Google Analytics.

You can block or delete both in your browser settings. Blocking them does not stop you using the form or calling us; it only means we cannot see the aggregate analytics.

How long we keep your enquiry

We do not publish a fixed retention period, because a fixed number would be wrong for one of two very different cases: an enquiry that went nowhere, and a job we carried out.

An enquiry that does not become work is kept only while it is useful for following up and for the records we are required to keep. If we do the work, the record is kept for the warranty period and for the accounting and tax records a business has to retain.

If you ask us to delete your details, we will delete the enquiry record and tell you what, if anything, we are required to keep. We would rather do that than hide behind a number.

How to have your details removed

Email support@garagedoorhou.com or call (281) 201-0151 and ask. Please include the name and phone number you used, and roughly when you sent the enquiry — that is usually enough for us to find it.

We will confirm by reply when it is done. If part of the record cannot be deleted because of a legal or accounting requirement, we will say which part and why, rather than deleting some of it and staying quiet about the rest.

What we will not do

  • We will not sell, rent or trade your details
  • We will not add you to a marketing list because you asked for a quote
  • We will not pass your details to another contractor, lead service or call centre
  • We will not use your details for anything other than your enquiry and the work it leads to
  • We will not send you marketing messages you did not ask for

If you are sending details for somebody else

When you enquire on behalf of someone else — a tenant, a family member, a property you manage — you are providing their details to us. Please make sure they know, and that they are happy for us to call.

Changes to this policy

If the way this site handles details changes, this page changes with it. It describes what the site does now, and it is written to be read rather than skimmed past.

Common questions

What does the enquiry form collect?

Name and phone number, which are required because we cannot quote or call you back without them. Everything else — email address, postal code, property type, service, urgency, door count on commercial enquiries and your message — is optional, and the form works if you leave it blank.

Do you sell my details or pass them to other contractors?

No. We do not sell them, we do not rent them, and we do not pass them to other contractors to quote against each other. An enquiry is used to answer you, to quote the work, to carry out the work if you approve it, and to honour any warranty afterwards.
